This Swiss paper presented a nice Java based visualization framework. The system supports a client/server architecture, clustering and hierarchy tools, four interface abstractions for different levels of users, a scripting system, and a plug in architecture for adding visual metaphors. The term ‘physics-based’ refers to a technique of applying “forces” on nodes and edges to produce a graph layout. It does not reflect a bias towards visualization of physical things (as opposed to abstract information.)
